To Cliff, Harry and Bruce for opening the September meeting and sharing a wonderful focus on the magic of former member Elbert Gardner. What a great inventor he is. He's not doing that anymore and doesn't live in the area but Dave MacDonald videoed the meeting to send to him. What a great idea and a great meeting. And thanks to all who joined in the open mic.

This month we will have the long-overdue program by Dave Mc Clements and Cliff Bruce on Magnetism and Magic. If you will recall, this was scheduled for last February, but the meeting was canceled due to bad weather. Various scheduling conflicts have postponed it until this month. We hope the delay will result in an even stronger program than originally planned.
Dave Mc Clements has been developing and demonstrating tricks and ideas with magnets for more that two years. His ideas for using magnets to create baffling effects are both creative and original. He has some of the best magnet tricks you are likely to see anywhere, and his ideas for using reed switches are at the cutting edge of magical invention.
Following Dave's demonstration, Cliff Bruce will explain the difference between magnets and magnetic material, the characteristic of each, and how to find magnetic material for magical effects He'll demonstrate how magnetic items can be turned into magnets, and non-magnetic material can be converted into magnetic material. Cliff will also explain something called Newton's Nightmare, an effect, so baffling, that even when you understand it, you don't understand it.
Everybody must have at least one trick that uses a magnet. If you do, bring it along for the open-mike portion of the meeting. If you don't want to do a trick with a magnet, just bring your magnetic personality and do whatever you want to; I'm sure you'll do great.

The November meeting will feature a brief presentation and an open-mike session on sponge magic. We should have a ball! Maybe three balls - one in the pocket and two in the hand.
The December, holiday show and open house, will be held between Christmas and New Years on the 28th of December. We are looking for some fresh faces to perform. Ideas and/or suggestions for the show will be welcomed.
DON'T MISS A ONE!
